About us

We are a project consortium consisting of three project partners and one associated partner. Each project partner brings extensive experience in the digitalization of the construction industry, which will be applied in the BIM2Build research project.

Project Partners

The Institute of Concrete Structures (IMB) at TU Dresden is a multidisciplinary research institute. The IMB develops scientific methods for the parametric design, construction, and modeling of bridge structures. The institute’s research focuses on parametric methods for civil engineering design and BIM. Through Professor Marx, the IMB contributes to the drafting of standards and regulations, including those for Deutsche Bahn.

The IMB is the consortium leader in the BIM2Build project. Together with MKP, it is developing a data analysis concept that it uses to analyze BIM projects. Additionally, the IMB is responsible for public relations.

A+S Consult GmbH (A+S) is an innovative, internationally active engineering and software company specializing in transportation and infrastructure planning. To this end, we utilize the KorFin® BIM platform — which has been continuously refined over the past 20 years — and make it available to other partners as well. We offer our clients IT-driven project support from a single source, from concept through design to execution. A+S is the German pioneer in the creation of parameterized domain-specific models and the application of BIM in the fields of roads, rail, and energy. A+S possesses many years of expertise in creating digital twins based on heterogeneous, complexly interconnected data. Drawing on its extensive practical experience in large-scale projects from the planning phase through to construction preparation, A+S has been utilizing technologies from the fields of big data and algorithmic AI for years.

In this project, A+S compares BIM projects with one another. Additionally, A+S compares conventional planning and execution with BIM-based planning and execution. Optimization potential and recommendations for action are derived.

MKP GmbH (MKP) is a civil engineering firm with a practical and scientific focus on bridge maintenance, with many years of experience in the design, diagnosis, and monitoring of bridge structures. MKP conducts extensive research and development in the digitalization of structural maintenance. By creating digital twins of infrastructure structures, MKP is expanding its portfolio to include a key component for digitalization in the construction industry. The focus is on automated data processing for assessing the condition of bridge structures.

MKP is developing the data analysis concept in collaboration with the IMB. In addition, MKP is conducting a comparative project evaluation as part of the project.

Associate Partner

DB InfraGO AG (DB) is a federally owned railway infrastructure company and a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn. Several years ago, DB launched the “BIM2Build” pilot program, in which pilot projects test the application of BIM during the construction phases (phases 5 and 8 according to HOAI).

As an associated partner, DB provides data from projects using BIM during the construction phase. In addition, the respective project participants are available for interviews.
